There are various export options available in Audacity. Each and every option is for exporting a particular type of file. Below are the various export options available in Audacity. You can choose the one which is suitable for your file.

MP3 Export Option

The MP3 export option allows you to choose the quality of exported files, in the most known MP3 format. You can choose from various bit rates: Variable, Average, Constant, or from one of the four presets.

But remember, MP3 files have some short silences at the starting point. This isn’t a bug, but can limit the MP3 option. As, it makes the application writing and playing MP3 slow. So if you want to sync files or make loops, do choose a format that comes with no such imitation.

The procedure of choosing an MP3 export option –

  1. Go to the folder from where you want to export the file
  2. Then, click on the export option
  3. Click on the multiple export option
  4. Choose the option of the MP3 file from the Save As dropdown box

OggVorbis Export Option

Ogg format is useful for playing audio in Windows Media Player and iTunes. It requires some extra downloaded codecs. It is a very popular format for streaming apps.

The procedure of choosing  the OggVorbis option: 

  1. Go to the file. Then, click on export
  2. Choose the export as an OGG option.

OR

  1. Go to the file
  2. Click on export
  3. Then, click on the export multiple option.
  4. Choose the OGG Vorbis file option from the save as type dropdown box

MP2 Export Option

The MP2 export option is a compressed audio format. The broadcasting and DVD production companies use this format.

You can use this option by the following procedure –

  1. Go to the File
  2. Click on the Export option
  3. Click on the Export Audio option
  4. Then choose the MP2 Files from the Save as type dropdown box.

AC3 Export Options

AC3 is a format of audio that is compressed. It is developed by the software company Dolby Laboratories.

You can use the option by:

  1. Go to the file
  2. Click on the Export option
  3. Click on the Export Audio option
  4. Choose AC3 files option from the Save As dropdown box

AMR Export Options

The AMR option refers to the Adaptive Multi-Rate codec. Basically, it is a patented scheme that is optimized for speaking. You can also use it for mobile ringtones.

You can use this option with the help of the following procedure:

  1. Go to the file which you want to export
  2. Click on the Export option
  3. Click on the Export Audio option and
  4. Choose the AMR File from the Save as type dropdown menu.

There are many other options that you can use with other than this. So, do check them all.

Do not forget that all the exports are mixed to mono or stereo channels. If you wish to export more channels, then use the Custom mix option in the Import and Export preferences option. Then, save the changes you have made.
